The summit of Cimon della Pala is a characteristic rock pyramid which is why the mountain is also referred to as the “Matterhorn of the Dolomites”. The view from the mountain pass Passo Rolle onto Cimon della Pala and the surrounding mountains of the Pala group is particularly spectacular. The normal route to the summit leads over the eastern ridge and was first climbed in 1989. The first ascent of the mountain in 1870 was accomplished via the north face.
