Since prominence evaluates a mountain in the context of its surroundings, this gives us a good distribution across the Alpine region.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOur impression of mountains, however, isn't shaped by geography alone, but also by their form, rock, and the sightlines toward them. That's why we additionally selected 79 special mountains of the Alps that, despite lower prominence, hold special significance and define the character of the Alps. A few examples are \u003ca href=\"\/en\/products\/eiger\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eEiger\u003c\/a\u003e, Grosser Mythen, or Hohe Weisse. The selection of these mountains is, by nature, partly subjective – but here too we made sure that our selection covers the entire Alpine region.
