The rock needles of Aiguilles d'Arves rise in the Maurienne east of Grenoble. The southern peak, Aiguelle Méridional is the high point of the group. The Aiguille Centrale is only one meter lower and further north lies the Aiguelle Septentrionale, also called “Tête de Chat” (Cat's Head). Since the neighboring Écrins massif in the south is very famous and popular the Aiguelles d'Arves are far less in the spotlight, making them attractive for all those who rather seek secluded and lonely mountain and climbing tours.
