While Marmolata is considered as the Queen of the Dolomites, Antelao is the king of the mountain group. Rather unusual for the area, the majestic peak rises as a freestanding rock pyramid south east of Cortina d’Ampezzo. Together with Monte Pelmo in its west, the second highest summit of the Dolomites forms a giant entrance gate into Val di Cadore.
