Ennskraxn is not the highest but one of the most characteristic summits of the Kleinarltal in the state of Salzburg. It is part of the Radstadt Tauern, a subgroup of the western Lower Tauern. In the local area the mountain is simply called “Krax”. East of the summit is the source of the Enns, Austria's longest inland river. In the early summer the slopes of Ennskraxn present themselves in a particularly colorful way during the prime of the hairy alpenrose (Rhododendron hirsutum).
