The Große Rettenstein is the most striking peak in the Kitzbühel Alps. Rocky peak pyramid of Großer Rettenstein is an imposing appearance. It towers about 400 meters high above the surrounding grass-covered mountains and is sometimes described as „The Matterhorn of Kitzbühel“. Even though the mountain is only half as high as the Matterhorn and exclusively resembles it when seen from the north.
