Hochgall or Collalto, the highest peak of the Rieserferner group, is situated on the border between Austria and Italy. The mountain is an imposing trapezoidal chunk with a prominent summit ridge. It closes the gap between the High Tauern, the Zillertal Alps in the West and the Tauferer Tal in South Tyrol. Therefore it can be ascended from Austria or Italy.
