Monte Civetta in Belluno region towers above the valley of Cordévole the village of Alleghe. „Civetta“ means “owl“ in german and goes back to the earlier imagination that such a tremendous mountain could only be conquered flying. Above all because of the steep and mighty north west face. It is more than 1 000 Meters high and three kilometers wide and therefore is one of the biggest rock faces of the dolomites.
