Montserrat

The Montserrat mountain massif is situated in the center of Catalonia. The characteristic and impressive appearance of the mountain chain is due to the red sand stone and the many rock needles. The high point of Montserrat is Sant Jeroni. Well-known is the Benedictine Abbey Santa Maria de Montserrat in the east, which was tightly squeezed to the rock. Several air funiculars and the funicular railway Cremallera de Montserrat transport visitors onto the mountain nowadays. It is also a popular destination for hiking, climbing, or biking.
