Pilatus is a massif in the Emmental Alps, in the West of lake Lucerne. The mountain massif consists out of a range of peaks – the highest of them being Tomlishorn. Beside the funicular of Kriens, the Pilatus railway leads up to the summit. It is the steepest mountain railway worldwide, because of the maximal gradient of 48 %.
