The Rigi is a mountain massif with the highest peak Rigi Kulm. It is located between Lake Lucerne, Lake Zug and Lake Lauerz and offers a spectacular view over large parts of the Swiss Alps. This is one of the reasons why the first mountain railway in Europe, the Vitznau-Rigi-Bahn, was build here in 1871. Rigi has attracted famous guests for centuries: Twain and Goethe visited the massif and Tolstoi even described the view as “the most beautiful in the world”.
