The Hinterweidenthaler Teufelstisch is one of the provincial landmarks of the Palatinate. The roughly 14-meter-high mushroom rock is the largest of its kind in the Palatinate Forest and a popular destination for climbers, although also heavily explored by numerous hikers every year as part of the Hinterweidenthaler Teufelstisch tour. The unique rock formation was created by the removal of surrounding rock layers through erosion, until only the hard rock remained, which gives the Teufelstisch its iconic shape today.
