Wildspitze is the highest mountain of the Ötztal Alps and the second highest mountain of Austria. The mountain's high prominence leads to a view from the top, which is only limited by the curvature of the earth, going from the Bernese Alps in the west with Bietschhorn and Aletschhorn to the Schober Group in the east. In the last century the north summit was the highest peak of the mountain but since the glacier melted down the south summit today is the highest point on the mountain.
