The Großglockner or Glockner is Austria's highest mountain and the second most prominent mountain of the Alps. The view of the summit from the Grossglockner High Alpine Road still fascinates people today. A few thousand climbers attempt to reach the summit every year. The name of the mountain is probably derived from its bell (German: “Glocke”) -like shape. Legend has it that a sorcerer is trapped inside the mountain.
