Print material

To showcase your Marmota Map or mountain print to its full potential, we offer printing on materials other than paper. Would you prefer an elegant map behind acrylic glass with a captivating depth effect, a very light yet sturdy map made of rigid foam, or a weatherproof aluminum composite panel map suitable for outdoor use?

The desired material can be selected directly on the product page. If this is not the case, or if you have any special requests, please feel free to email us at: service@marmotamaps.com

Paper

Our maps and prints are printed in high resolution with excellent colour reproduction. Depending on the product, the 190-250 g/m² paper gives our prints a long life, so you can enjoy your Marmota Map or mountain print for a long time.

For drawing your own markings on the map, we can recommend the following pens *:
Sharpie permanent, Staedtler permanent, Staedtler non-permanent, Schneider 240 permanent, Edding 3000 permanent.

Wooden frame

Our prints up to and including DIN-A1 (84.1 x 59.4 cm) can also be ordered framed.

Our white wooden frame is white-glazed and is 2 cm wide on all sides.

You will find other suitable picture frames on our Hanging the map page under 4. Picture Frame.

Foamcore

A map on foamcore is the ideal choice if you are looking for a sturdy map that pins and other markers can be pushed into.

The design is UV-printed directly onto a white, homogeneous, silk-matt surface in high resolution with the finest detail and colour reproduction. Underneath lies the 5 mm PVC foamcore board. Despite its very low weight, the map is highly rigid. The foamcore map is UV-resistant. We use environmentally friendly UV ink, and the foamcore map is completely VOC-free.

For your own labels and markings on our foamcore maps we can recommend the Staedtler non-permanent * marker.
With a little water and a damp cloth, markings made with this pen can be removed again if needed.

Aludibond

Maps and prints on Aludibond are weatherproof and UV-resistant, making them ideal for outdoor use.

The design is UV-printed directly onto a silk-matt surface in high resolution with the finest detail and colour reproduction. The Aludibond board consists of two 0.3 mm cover layers of white-lacquered aluminium on a core of black polyethylene. This makes Aludibond lighter than aluminium and, despite its low weight, very rigid. We use environmentally friendly UV ink, and the Aludibond print is completely VOC-free.

For labelling maps on Aludibond we also recommend the Staedtler non-permanent * marker.
With a little water and a damp cloth, markings can be removed from this material as well.

Acrylic glass

A print behind acrylic glass is a real eye-catcher. The elegant depth effect of the acrylic glass adds to its refined appearance.

The design is produced as a FineArt print in very high resolution with the finest detail and colour reproduction on a fully transparent, self-adhesive premium digital printing film that sits beneath the acrylic glass. The edges are high gloss polished. The material is extremely robust, protected against the weather and UV-resistant, so the map or print is also suitable for outdoor use.
To care for the acrylic glass map, all you need is water with a little washing-up liquid, a soft cloth and, if necessary, an antistatic plastic cleaner spray.

Because of the comparatively large gap between the surface of the acrylic glass and the map beneath it, we don't think acrylic glass prints are particularly well suited to adding your own markings. If you would still like to write on the acrylic glass, the Staedtler non-permanent * marker is a good choice for this material too.
With a little water and a damp cloth, markings can be removed from acrylic glass as well.
