Cordillera de Guanacaste

Cordillera de Guanacaste

The Cordillera de Guanacaste is a mountain range in northern Costa Rica close to the Nicaraguan border. The range includes a considerable number of active and dormant stratovolcanoes. The most famous one is also one of the highest volcanoes of the range: the Arenal volcano. It last erupted in 1968, destroying two villages and covered the entire region with volcanic ash. Arenal is still active today, even though the danger of another fatal eruption is not considered very high in the foreseeable future.

How are our prints made?

We have been drawing mountains since 2015.
Every print is illustrated by hand, and we write and check the texts ourselves.

In the illustrations, we pay attention to perspective and to landmarks that stand for a place, making it easy to recognise. For Alpine passes, we show tunnels or sights along the route, such as the Courchevel altiport at the Col de la Loze.

It is important to us that the texts convey the information and the atmosphere of a route accurately. We use AI for preliminary research, error checking and translation. People carry out the essential steps.
