Der Stetind ist einer der bekanntesten Berge Skandinaviens und wurde 2002 zum nationalen Berg Norwegens gekürt. Als nahezu perfekter Obelisk wird er manchmal auch als das „Matterhorn Skandinaviens“ bezeichnet. Obwohl der Berg nicht besonders hoch ist, machen seine nördliche Lage und die klimatischen sowie die harschen Wetterbedingungen vor Ort Besteigungsversuche zu einem schwierigen Unterfangen. Nach einigen misslungenen Versuchen wurde der Stetind 1910 erstmals bezwungen.
