Mount Hood

Mount Hood

Mount Hood is Oregon's highest mountain and the fourth highest peak of the Cascade Range. It is situated about 50 mi east of Portland, close to the Oregon-Washington state border. The mountain is a stratovolcano. Its last major eruption dates back to 1781 and 1782 and it is still considered potentially active. The characteristic snow-covered top of the mountain is made up of glaciers and snowfields, which makes it difficult to determine the exact height of the mountain. There are five alpine ski resorts located at Mount Hood.
