Der Monte Civetta in der Provinz Belluno thront über demCordévole-Tal und dem Ort Alleghe. „Civetta“ heisst auf deutsch „Eule“ und geht auf die frühere Vorstellung zurück, einen solch gewaltigen Berg nur fliegend erobern zu können. Das liegt vor allem an der ebenso steilen wie gewaltigen Nordwestwand, mit über 1000 Meter Höhe und drei Kilometern Breite eine der grössten Felswände der Dolomiten.
