Etna is the highest mountain on Sicily and the highest active volcano in Europe outside the Caucasus. It is on the UN list of Decade Volcanoes, as well as a UNESCO world heritage site. Even though the Etna is in an almost constant state of volcanic activity thousand of tourists visit the mountain each year. There are also two ski resorts on its slopes.
