Mont Aiguille is a prominent mountain of the North Dauphiné Limestone Alps in the Isère region. The summit of Mont Aiguille rises steeply from the surroundings, similar to the famous table mountains in Monument Valley in Utah. It is a remnant of a plateau that has been removed around the mountains by erosion and the grinding of former glaciers. Detached from the main ridge of the Massif du Vercors, Mont Aiguille is visible from afar despite its comparatively low height.
