Three Sisters

Three Sisters

The Three Sisters are a group of three volcanoes, made up of Oregon's third-, fourth- and fifth-highest mountains, all having an elevation over 10000 ft (3000 m). Being very close to each other, they appear as an entity. The chapter of the Methodist church of Salem named the three summits from north to south Faith, Hope and Charity in the 1840s. Nearby Mount Bachelor, lying much more remotely by itself, owes its name to the Three Sisters. Today the three mountains are a popular destination for climbers. Even though the South Sister is the highest of the three summits, the North Sister is considered the most dangerous to climb.
