Mount St. Helens is an active stratovolcano in the Cascade Range, near the west coast of the USA. The volcano’s severe eruption on 18 May 1980 was the most destructive volcanic event in US history and killed 57 people. The north flank slid away, costing the mountain a good 400 metres in height. In the languages of the local Indigenous peoples, Mount St. Helens is known as Lawetlat’la (Cowlitz) and as Loowit or Louwala-Clough (Klickitat).

How are our prints made?

We have been drawing mountains since 2015.
Every print is illustrated by hand, and we write and check the texts ourselves.

In the illustrations, we pay attention to perspective and to landmarks that stand for a place, making it easy to recognise. For Alpine passes, we show tunnels or sights along the route, such as the Courchevel altiport at the Col de la Loze.

It is important to us that the texts convey the information and the atmosphere of a route accurately. We use AI for preliminary research, error checking and translation. People carry out the essential steps.
