The Spitzkoppe may not be Namibia’s highest mountain, but it is probably its most famous. It rises impressively some 700 metres out of the surrounding plain in the middle of the Namib Desert. The inselberg was formed by volcanic activity around 100 million years ago. Its pyramid-like summit has earned it the nickname ‘the Matterhorn of Namibia’. Climbing on the Spitzkoppe is best in the southern hemisphere’s winter months, as the rock heats up too much in summer.

How are our prints made?

We have been drawing mountains since 2015.
Every print is illustrated by hand, and we write and check the texts ourselves.

In the illustrations, we pay attention to perspective and to landmarks that stand for a place, making it easy to recognise. For Alpine passes, we show tunnels or sights along the route, such as the Courchevel altiport at the Col de la Loze.

It is important to us that the texts convey the information and the atmosphere of a route accurately. We use AI for preliminary research, error checking and translation. People carry out the essential steps.
