Pizza Quartett
Pizza Quartett

The Pizza Quartet is not a typical Marmota Maps product, but our little personal project - Stefan always wanted to compare pizzas and Lana wanted to draw pizza toppings. So we quickly decided to design the quartet, even without reference to the Alps or the mountains.

32 different pizzas compete in this quartet - from classics like the Margeritha to exotics like the Chocolate Pizza, from the purist Pizza Marinara to the opulently topped Pizza Capricciosa.

THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES ARE PLAYED AGAINST EACH OTHER:

1. Toppings

Indicated is the number of toppings that this pizza traditionally has. Regionally, the ingredients may vary. Tomato sauce counts as a topping only if it is an integral part of the pizza, as in the case of Margeritha.

2. Popularity

This indicates the popularity that this type of pizza achieved in a nationwide survey in Germany. The survey was conducted in 2021 by the delivery service Hello Fresh. Each pizza has an individual ranking, the lower the number, the more popular the pizza.

3. Calories

The calorie value per 100g of an average pizza of that type with an even ratio of toppings, dough and sauce. A large part of the calories of a pizza is made up of the carbohydrate-rich dough, which is especially noticeable in the ratio of pizzas without toppings.

4. Preparation time

The average preparation time when all the necessary steps (washing ingredients, cutting, pre-cooking, etc.) are performed in sequence and only fresh ingredients are used. Does not include the preparation and rising time of the dough and the baking time of the pizza.

5. Average price

The value is calculated from the average of the prices of the five largest pizza chains in Germany and always refers to the smallest possible variant that can be ordered. For more unusual pizzas that are not in the range, comparable restaurants were used as a source. For the fishsticks pizza, the price of a spinach pizza and the price of fishsticks were added together.

Rules of the game

Version 1

Any number of players can participate, with the minimum number of participants being two. Initially, the cards are shuffled and distributed, and the player sitting to the left of the dealer begins. He names a category on his top card. The player with the higher or lower value on his top card - depending on the category and agreement - wins and receives the cards of the other players. If a player has a maximum of only three cards, he may choose the card he uses. If two values are equal, a second round follows. The player with the same value who shouts out "Stich" first may select the new value in the second round. The game ends when one player has collected all the cards.

Version 2

The game can be played with at least three players. There are eight quartets - from 1A-1D to 8A-8D. The aim of the game is to collect as many quartets as possible. Initially, the cards are shuffled and distributed, and the player sitting to the left of the dealer begins by asking another player of his choice for a certain card, for instance 2D. However he must have at least one card from this quartet on his hand already, in this example 2A, 2B, or 2C. If the other player does have the card which was asked for he has to hand it over. In that case it is the first player's turn again, until somebody does not have the card which was asked for. Then the turn of the next player to the left begins. When a player has a complete quartet he puts it out openly in front of him. The winner is the player who has collected the most quartets.
