West of Chur the Ringelspitz is rising over the Rhine valley. The mountain which is also known as Piz Barghis in Romansh is the highest summit of the canton of St. Gallen and is situated on the border to Graubünden. The Ringelspitz hut of the Swiss Alpine Club southeast of the mountain is a good starting point for tours to the top of the mountain. The winter and early spring months are especially recommendable for summit attempts.
