Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and offers a mild climate year round. The Spanish volcanic island features a unique geographical diversity: while in the middle of the island the Pico del Teide rises, at 3718 meters Spain's highest mountain, the east of the island fascinates with a blooming flora in the green Orotava Valley and the gold poppy fields near Arafo. The northeast of the island is covered with the wildly rugged and densely forested Macizo de Anaga, which rise steeply from the sea up to a height of about 1000 meters.
