Krivan

Situated in the High Tatras, the highest part of the Carpathian Mountains, Kriváň rises to a height of almost 2500 meters. The slightly crooked shape of the summit gave the mountain its name, since krivý in Slovakian can be translated as bent. Kriváň is sometimes referred to as “the Matterhorn of Slovakia” and was voted to be Slovakia's most beautiful summit multiple times. Since the 19th century it has become one of the national symbols of the country.
