Because of its characteristic shape the 2,563m high Schlern is one of the major landmarks of South Tyrol and of the Dolomites. It is sung of in the “Bozner Bergsteigerlied”, one of the inofficial anthems of South Tyrol. Legend has it that the area around the mountain is home to the Schlern Witches, who were often made responsible for severe storms and other misfortune.
