The Trettachspitze is the highest mountain in the Allgäu Alps, which lies completely within Bavaria. Due to its shape the characteristic peak is also referred to as the “Matterhorn of the Allgäu”. Ascending the Trettachspitze is a task for experienced climbers. The easiest route is via the northwest ridge. The vast majority of the other popular climbing routes are ascents via the western face of the mountain.
